A rubber runner is a durable floor covering supplied in rolls, characterized by high abrasion resistance and elasticity. Its advantages include versatility, protection of floors against mechanical damage and liquids, and excellent slip resistance. Unlike carpet mats, rubber runners are often oil-resistant, easy to clean, and ideal for demanding commercial environments.
The choice of material depends on the area of application. We primarily use the following rubber types for our rubber runners:
- SBR rubber (standard): Suitable for general, non-oily areas and offers high abrasion resistance.
- NBR rubber (nitrile): Designed for applications involving contact with oils, greases, and coolants.
- EPDM rubber: Ideal for outdoor use and environments exposed to steam, as it is resistant to ozone and UV radiation.
Yes. Many of our rubber runners – especially those made from EPDM or specific SBR compounds – are weather-resistant, UV-resistant, and rot-proof. These rubber mats are ideal for ramps, outdoor entrances, or exterior work areas, as they maintain their slip resistance even in wet conditions.
Yes, this is a key advantage of our products. Since rubber runners are often used to cover long corridors or to provide precise coverage for loading areas, most of our rubber mats can be ordered exactly to your required dimensions. This ensures optimal coverage without unnecessary material waste and saves time during installation.
In most cases, loose installation is sufficient. The high weight of the rubber runners ensures that the roll material lies flat on the surface and does not slip. Adhesive bonding is only recommended for extremely long runs, on inclines, or if the mat is driven over by heavy vehicles.
The ideal thickness depends on the area of application and the expected load:
- Thin rubber mats (e.g. 3 mm): For floor protection in drawers, counters, or light traffic areas.
- Medium rubber runners (e.g. 6–8 mm): Ideal for workshops, production halls, and as anti-fatigue mats.
- Thick mats (from 10 mm): For areas with high point loads or where strong cushioning is required (e.g. under machinery).
