EPDM, foam rubber or neoprene – which material is right?

  • Foam rubber sealing tape: A closed-cell foam providing excellent damping and very good sealing against water and dust.
  • Neoprene (moosgummi) sealing tape: Combination of open and closed cells ensures good compressibility—ideal for sealing uneven or complex joints.

Please note: the adhesive generally does not replace the mechanical fastening or the sealing function of the material itself.

Yes, our sealing tapes made of EPDM or certain foam rubber qualities are resistant to weather, ozone, and UV radiation. We specifically recommend EPDM sealing tapes for permanent outdoor use, as this material offers the highest weather resistance.

Measure the joint or gap you want to seal. Then select a sealing tape that is slightly wider than the joint so that it overlaps slightly. The thickness should be chosen so that the tape compresses by approximately 25% to 50% of its thickness, ensuring a long-lasting, water- and airtight seal.

Yes, due to their cell structure and material density (especially foam rubber and neoprene), our sealing tapes are excellent for decoupling and damping vibrations and sound. They are often used in drywall construction or automotive applications as vibration dampers.

It depends on the material. Standard sealing tapes made of EPDM or SBR are not resistant to oil. For contact with oils, fats, or solvents, you need special qualities such as nitrile rubber (NBR) or our chemical-resistant variants. Please contact us if you are unsure.
